RIP Chip
August 20th, 1994 - August 22nd, 2008.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post. I appreciate it. I really should have had this post ready last night. I'm a mess right now. =(

My mom decided to let Chip reach his 14th birthday and scheduled his vet appointment for this morning. I know it was time for him to go, but I'm going to miss him so much. He was my baby... =(

Aw, *MASSIVE HUGS* for you. I've been there so I really know how much this sucks.

Two years ago this October my family and I put down our dog of 16 years and without a doubt, it was one of the worst days of my life.

I empathize with you and your loss.

*HUGS* *HUGS* *HUGS*

I'm so sorry hon. I know how much you loved him and how much he loved you. Big hugs from me. Just know he's watching out for you from Heaven.

*HUGS!*

I remember when I first checked out your journal profile and saw the pictures of Chip -- I went, squee, can I have him?! I was obsessed with collies/shelties when I was a kid, and still find them to be gorgeous dogs, with Chip being no exception. I also remember thinking to myself how cool it was that you also had an older dog who you'd grown up with, that was obviously still a huge part of your family.

I know I'm pretty much a complete stranger here, but every time I read one of your posts about Chip, I felt like you were talking about Nikki. I think we're about the same age (I'm 26) and I know when we had to put Nikki down, it wasn't just like saying good-bye to childhood (as cheesy as that sounds) because she was with me through my teenage years, high school, even college. She lived with me for over half of my life. I really did (and do) feel like I lost a part of myself with her.

Not exactly cheery thoughts on my part, but I am thinking about you, and hoping you're hanging in there -- and don't apologize to anyone for being a mess right now, because it will be absolutely understandable to anybody who's ever really loved an animal (which are the only people worth knowing, IMHO). *more hugs!*

I'm so terribly sorry about Chip. I even have tears in my eyes now! He had quite a grand life...fourteen is a good old age for a dog. I know you'll miss Chip, but take comfort in the fact that you provided him with a wonderful, loving home. Keep in mind all the fun times you had with him and his silly little quirks, and smile when you think of him.
